Rowing School

Custom Training Program:

The Middle Fork Adventures Team is passionate about rivers and always improving our skills so that we can best enjoy our time on the river.  Lifelong learning is one of the things we believe keeps life interesting.  Teaching is one of the best ways for experts to hone their craft, and we're proud to offer river training.

We offer training in both Idaho, and Colorado.

Our Colorado training programs are offered in partnership with our sister company, Royal Gorge Rafting, and take place outside of Canon City, Colorado.  The Arkansas River offers Class II through Class IV water, and depending on the runoff, can range from low and technical, to big-water.

We offer classes from one day up to a week, and will put together a plan to work on the skills that you tell us you want to improve on.  This could be any combination of topics like rowing/maneuvering mechanics, reading water, safety/group management, expedition planning, packing and loading, or even boat rigging and outfitting.

Our Colorado programs are perfect for those who've caught the river bug and are thinking about getting their own boat, or maybe you've spent a season or two on the Upper Colorado and are ready to up your game to the Ark.

Our Idaho training takes place at our warehouse in Salmon, ID and on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River.  The Middle Fork is one of the crown jewels of the American River system, and is not to be missed!

This course is intended for boaters who are already proficient at rowing class III-IV water, but are interested in advanced expedition trip planning and specific guidance on the Middle Fork.

Depending on your preferred dates, the river portion of this course will be either 5 or 6 days, with an additional 2 days on the front end to learn menu planing, shopping and packing; equipment loading, and itinerary briefing.

Expect to learn a lot of "pro-tips" from our Team that will simplify the way you launch and rig boats, set up camp, and manage day-to-day life on the river.

In either location, you'll have the benefit of learning with our Team of professionals, and we know you'll come away wishing you could've stayed for the rest of the season!
